1930 Census of 5 April for Seaford Town: Emory S. Utz, 45, born in MD as were both parents, and working as line foreman with telephone company; Pearl, 45, hair dresser, born in PA with father born in PA and mother in DE; William Karl, 21, draftsman with telephone company, born in PA with father born in MD and mother in PA. Census takers relied more on speed and the number of households visited than on accuracy.
Gravestone reads "E. Samuel Utz".

Emory married Pearl Price, daughter of William H. Price and Anna E. Messick, after 1910. (Pearl Price was born in May 1886 in Delaware and died in 1977 in Seaford Odd Fellows Cmtry.)
