General Notes: A record in the Military General's Office, Wash., DC, states that Mitchell Lank was a member of Capt. William Peery's Independent Company "lately stationed in Lewes" which captured four guns from the English ship "Pembroke" in the Delaware Bay. General Notes: One source (Genealogical Gleanings...) has his birth at 9-27-1762.

Research Notes: In a ltr from Wm. E. Lank (89) of Milford to Merle Lank, dated 2-10-1952, he refers to Joe Lank's "great-great-grandfather...named John Lank, the same as my grandfather, and he was called One Eye John Lank, he was a sea captain." Did he mean that he and Joe were related to the same John Lank?

General Notes: Thomas's Last Will & Testament of 1837, posted on this website, does not give regard to or mention his first child, Levin, who at age 48 in 1837 was a successful landowner or yeoman in Broad Creek Hundred, same county. Son Thomas was also not mentioned.
1810 Census: Thomas and Louvisa Lank household included son under 10 (John), son 16-26 (Nathaniel), dtr under 10 (Nancy), dtrs 10-16 (Sophia and possibly Elizabeth), dtr 16-26 (possibly Arcadia). Son Levin was 20-21 and probably on his own. Another Thos. Lank household is listed on this census in Sussex County: male under 10, male 10-16, 2 males 16-26, male 45+, 2 females under 10, female 10-16, female 16-26, 2 females 26-45.
1820 Census: One Thomas Lank household in Sussex County with appearance of more than one family in dwelling. Other heads of household are Elgate, Aby, Levin, Mitchell, Nelly (mother aged 26-45 with son under 10 in NW Fork Hd), William.

Thomas married Comfort Scudder on 21 Jun 1787 in Lewes and Coolspring Presbyterian Church, Lewes, Sussex CO, DE. Comfort was born circa 1768 in Lewes, Sussex CO, DE, died on 4 Jan 1791 at age 23, and was buried in St John the Baptist Anglican Church, Milton (2.5 mi SW), Broadkill HD, Sussex, DE.
