Burton Family

The side-wheeler, Chowan, cruises past the Seaford shipyard, Baltimore bound. Later, refurbished and renamed the Nanticoke, she became known as the most palatial steamer on the Chesapeake Bay. On Sunday, July 31, 1892, an excursion to Deal Island with ten stops en route, cost 50 cents for the round trip. [Photo courtesy of: J.
